Baseball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

Polk County had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-12 to make it 13. They lost 10-0 to the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Patriots. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Polk County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences, their record is now 9-11-2. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences' side, the team relied heavily on Christopher Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Jones has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is 5-2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9-1 otherwise.

While Polk County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
