Softball Game Preview: Evansville Reitz Panthers vs. Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats

Evansville Reitz hasn't had much luck against Evansville Mater Dei recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m.

Evansville Reitz is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since March 27th on Wednesday. They came up short against Castle, falling 18-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Evansville Mater Dei, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Terre Haute North Vigo on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Addi Boots made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Boots was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaylynn Jones was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Evansville Reitz's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Evansville Mater Dei, their record is now 6-7.

Evansville Reitz couldn't quite finish off Evansville Mater Dei in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
