Basketball Recap: St. Bernard Starts Season with Win Against Claremont

St. Bernard took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past the Claremont Wolfpack 81-56. With the Vikings ahead 43-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Despite the loss, Claremont saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja'Mahri Smith almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nolan Zitar, who made all 5 shots he took for 12 points.

Looking ahead, St. Bernard won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against La Serna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Claremont, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
