Basketball Recap: New Albany Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Jeffersonville

On Wednesday, New Albany faced Jeffersonville in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The New Albany Bulldogs received a blow as they fell 78-59 to the Jeffersonville Red Devils. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Jeffersonville was led to victory by Michael Cooper and Tre Singleton. Cooper went 11-for-16 on his way to 29 points, while Singleton dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Cooper also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shawn Boyd, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points.

New Albany's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Jeffersonville, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

New Albany has already played their next game, a 48-46 victory against Providence on the 14th. As for Jeffersonville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-69 win against Jennings County on the 15th.
