Basketball Recap: Franklin Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Franklin Central had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans with a sharp 65-41 victory on Friday. That 24 point margin sets a new team best for the Flashes this season.

Leading Franklin Central to victory were Elijah Thompson and Ej Hazelett. Thompson dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Hazelett shot 56% from the field en route to 12 points along with seven assists and six boards. Franklin Central is 3-1 when Thompson posts eight or more rebounds, but 4-13 otherwise. Raymond Hayes was another key player, putting up nine points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Franklin Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's also-impressive total of 11.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexander Lake, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 17 points and seven boards, and Zach Mccormack, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. The dominant performance also gave Mccormack a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Ari Sahm, who had six points.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-14. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Franklin Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they will face off against Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cathedral's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches.
