Volleyball Recap: Praise Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Excel Christian Academy on Thursday, Praise Academy came back down to earth. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Jaguars on Monday. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 25-21 in the first set.

Praise Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Georgia-Cumberland Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gigi Barbosa, who had 31 digs and four aces. Those 31 digs gave Barbosa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Milly Crecelius, who had 37 digs and six kills.

Praise Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Georgia-Cumberland Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Praise Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Unity Christian at 6:00 p.m. As for Georgia-Cumberland Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
