Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 72-15 defeat at the hands of the South River Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-13 back in December of 2024.

Southern got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Scarlett Wooster and Huntyr Marks, who each put up four points.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for South River, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.

Southern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-21 victory against North County on the 15th. As for South River, they are taking a road trip to take on Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South River's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.
