Basketball Recap: Sabino Skates Past Empire with Ease

Sabino won the last time they faced Empire and things went their way on Friday too. The Sabino Sabercats blew past the Empire Ravens 49-7. The game marked the Sabercats' most dominant victory of the season.

Leading Sabino to victory were Jayda Haley and Melia Graham. Haley posted 14 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Graham went 7 of 13 on her way to 14 points. That's the most steals Haley has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chayil Combs, who put up six points and four steals.

Sabino's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9. As for Empire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Sabino will be playing in front of their home fans against Palo Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sabino is facing Palo Verde at the right time seeing as Palo Verde is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Empire, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-12 loss against Safford on the 20th.
