Basketball Game Preview: Start Spartans vs. Rogers Rams

The Start Spartans are taking a road trip to face off against the Rogers Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Start has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Rogers will arrive with seven straight victories.

Start is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Lima Senior on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Start was dealt an 82-52 defeat at the hands of Lima Senior. While losing is never fun, Start can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Lima Senior is ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Rogers didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln-King Academy on Saturday as they won 53-38.

Rogers' win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Start, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Start didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rogers in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Start since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
