Basketball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders + How To Watch

The Carlsbad Lancers will be taking part in a tournament against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Carlsbad unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 64-45 fall against Cathedral Catholic on Friday.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Pacifica Christian on Saturday as they won 50-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Carlsbad better keep an eye on Jarika Chan. She was instrumental in Mater Dei Catholic's win, going 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and four steals. Those 17 points gave Chan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Promise Martin, who posted eight points and 12 boards.

Mater Dei Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Carlsbad couldn't quite get it done against Mater Dei Catholic in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 59-52. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
