Basketball Recap: Millwood Starts off Right with Win over Buford Road Christian Academy

Millwood had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Buford Road Christian Academy with a sharp 66-42 victory on Tuesday.

Millwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Griffin Aktalay, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Aktalay's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Hazeem Karim, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Buford Road Christian Academy now has a losing record of 1-2.

Millwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-34 defeat against Amelia Academy on the 21st. As for Buford Road Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Life Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 4.
