Softball Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Reedley Pirates
Sanger has gone a perfect 5-0 against Reedley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sanger Apaches are taking a road trip to challenge the Reedley Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Sanger is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Tuesday, Sanger got the win against Mission Oak by a conclusive 9-1. Fans of the Apaches have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Amber Estrada made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Brea Poindexter and Arianah Cardoso did most of the damage at the plate: Poindexter scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Cardoso scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Cardoso a new career-high in stolen bases. Aundrea Orosco was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Reedley and Orange Cove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Reedley put the hurt on Orange Cove with a sharp 13-4 win on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Pirates have posted against the Titans since March 7, 2019.
Reedley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Sanger, their record now sits at 6-0.
Sanger took their victory against Reedley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sanger since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
