Softball Recap: Live Oak Acorns vs. Leigh Longhorns

Live Oak was the 21-16 winner over Leigh when they last played one another back in May of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Live Oak Acorns fell just short of the Leigh Longhorns by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. Live Oak has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ava Chapman and Hailey Stegall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chapman went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while Stegall scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Aida Martins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

On Leigh's side, Sophia Gandara was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Gandara has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Gandara was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
