Recap: Lincoln Trojans vs. Gainesville Hurricanes
The Lincoln Trojans had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gainesville on Friday and snuck past 51-49. Winning may never get old, but Lincoln sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamiya Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jamesia Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.
Lincoln's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Gainesville, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Lincoln will play host again and welcome Beachside, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Beachside is ranked 60th, while Lincoln is ranked 78th). Gainesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
