Basketball Recap: Hempstead Comes Up Short

Hempstead and Waterloo West squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hempstead had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 78-42 loss at the hands of the Waterloo West Wahawks. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wahawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Hempstead's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Waterloo West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-15.

Looking ahead, Hempstead will challenge Cedar Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Waterloo West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
