Wynnie Abney and Jahan Lalli were among the main playmakers for Pope as the former had 12 digs and five aces and the latter had four digs, two aces, and one block. Lalli has been hot, having also posted 23 or more assists the last six times she's played.
They weren't the only good servers: Pope was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Newnan got the win against Kennesaw Mountain on Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-21, 25-14.
Newnan's win came from a few key players Pope will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sarah Frank, who had 18 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Gray Goldenberg, who had eight digs and five aces.
Pope's win bumped their record up to 29-8. As for Newnan, their victory bumped their record up to 32-13.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Pope has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Newnan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
