Volleyball Recap: Ironton Takes a Loss

Ironton came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Minford Falcons. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Tigers in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.

Amaya Barbour paced Ironton's offense, picking up nine kills. Barbour got some help from Lilly Lewis and her 15 assists. Barbour was also a major player on defense: she and Lexi McCall shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with four each.

Ironton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Minford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Ironton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Rock Hill on the 9th. As for Minford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against South Webster on the 9th.
