Basketball Game Preview: East Rutherford Cavaliers vs. R-S Central Hilltoppers

East Rutherford hasn't had much luck against R-S Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The East Rutherford Cavaliers will look to defend their home court against the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 7:30 p.m. East Rutherford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.

East Rutherford fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Patton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 74-66 to the Panthers. The Cavaliers just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Despite their defeat, East Rutherford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jj Arrowood, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Blake Suttle, who went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Rutherford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, R-S Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past the Panthers with a 54-50 victory.

R-S Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for East Rutherford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything came up roses for East Rutherford against R-S Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-39 win. Does East Rutherford have another victory up their sleeve, or will R-S Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
