Thomas MacLaren School took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Canon City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders won by a set and slipped past the Canon City Tigers 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Highlanders, who have now won four games in a row.
Thomas MacLaren School had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-9.
Chase Vadala paced Thomas MacLaren School's offense, picking up 15 kills. Vadala really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 19. Finally, Benny Ambuul kept Thomas MacLaren School's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
