Football Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Hoover had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They were dealt a 43-13 loss at the hands of the McLane Highlanders. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Even if they lost, Hoover's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Alex Velasquez and Jonathan Nem, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for McLane, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

McLane's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vernon Lacy, who threw for 301 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes. Lacy has been hot, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Demetrius Simon was in the mix too, providing McLane with three scores.

Looking ahead, Hoover will take on Cabrillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' defense better be ready for this one: the Conquistadores have averaged an impressive 40.1 points per game this season. McLane does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
