Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence North Wildcats vs. Avon Orioles

Lawrence North is a perfect 4-0 against Avon since November of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will take on the Orioles at 7:30 p.m. Avon took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lawrence North, who comes in off a win.

Lawrence North is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Anderson with a sharp 65-39 victory on Saturday. The Wildcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 7th (when they won 89-12).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordyn Suggs, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points and three steals. Suggs has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: she's posted one of at least 45% every time she's hit the court this season. Jaida Wheat was another key player, shooting 71% from the field on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Avon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zionsville.

Lawrence North picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Lawrence North strolled past Avon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 72-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Orioles' Aniah Smith, who went 11-for-22 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be easier for the Wildcats to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
