Basketball Recap: Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines vs. South Effingham Mustangs
After flying high against The Habersham School on Tuesday, Woodville-Tompkins came back down to earth. The Wolverines fell 66-60 to the South Effingham Mustangs on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 77-73 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.
South Effingham got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Warren Roundtree out in front who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Quinton Williams, who posted 14 points and six boards.
Woodville-Tompkins' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Woodville-Tompkins wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-45 loss against Groves on the 18th. As for South Effingham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-49 defeat against Camden County on the 15th.
