Basketball Recap: South Oak Cliff Beats Hillcrest for Their Fourth Straight Victory

South Oak Cliff had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They blew past the Hillcrest Panthers 64-43. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Hillcrest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Komarion Callahan, who posted eight points and three steals. Callahan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Saivon Johnson, who scored nine points and five boards.

South Oak Cliff pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.4 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

South Oak Cliff and Hillcrest should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. South Oak Cliff will face off against Sunset at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 1,095 places (213 vs. 1308). Meanwhile, Hillcrest (ranked 545th) will meet Jefferson (ranked 1316th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
