Preview: Bishop Carroll Huskies vs. Greater Johnstown Trojans
Bishop Carroll is 2-8 against Greater Johnstown since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bishop Carroll Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Greater Johnstown Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Bishop Carroll came up short against Bishop McCort and fell 65-55.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Luke Repko, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jace Casses, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Greater Johnstown gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 67-31 win over Central Cambria on the road. Given Greater Johnstown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Central Cambria is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Carroll has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Greater Johnstown, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Bishop Carroll took a serious blow against Greater Johnstown when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 92-63. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greater Johnstown's Donte Tisinger, who scored 29 points.
