Basketball Game Preview: American Prep WV Eagles vs. Salt Lake Academy Griffins

American Prep WV hasn't had much luck against Salt Lake Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The American Prep WV Eagles will face off against the Salt Lake Academy Griffins at 5:30 p.m.

American Prep WV is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Rockwell on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. American Prep WV was dealt a 45-5 defeat at the hands of Rockwell. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-3.

Meanwhile, Salt Lake Academy blew past Wasatch Academy, posting a 40-10 win. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.

American Prep WV better keep an eye on Aisha Carreon. She was instrumental in Salt Lake Academy's win, putting up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Addison Patrick, who posted seven points.

Salt Lake Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.6 points per game. As for American Prep WV, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

American Prep WV was dealt a bruising 49-22 defeat at the hands of Salt Lake Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can American Prep WV avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
