Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Mercy Prep Academy

Mercy Prep Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They strolled past the Regents Academy Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 50-36.

Mercy Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Crist Rigotti, who posted 13 points. Rigotti is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Verlander, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Mercy Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mercy Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-53 win against Wylie Prep Academy on the 20th. As for Regents Academy, after both having extra time off, they and Longview Christian will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
