Basketball Game Preview: Van Alstyne Panthers vs. Pottsboro Cardinals

The Van Alstyne Panthers will head out to square off against the Pottsboro Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

It was a proper cat-fight when Van Alstyne took on Krum on Saturday. The Panthers took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The matchup was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Pottsboro ended up a good deal behind Richland on Thursday and lost 50-35.

Van Alstyne's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pottsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Things could have been worse for Van Alstyne, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-43 loss to Pottsboro in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
