Basketball Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

The East Burke Cavaliers will square off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Burke is looking for their season's first victory.

On Tuesday, East Burke came up short against Freedom and fell 60-52.

Despite their loss, East Burke saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lincoln Burns, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Carter Bennett, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Newton-Conover didn't have quite enough to beat North Iredell on Thursday and fell 52-50. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 16-12 in the first quarter.

Having lost for the first time this season, Newton-Conover fell to 3-1. As for East Burke, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

East Burke suffered a grim 66-46 defeat to Newton-Conover when the teams last played back in January. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
