Football Recap: Royal Comes Up Short

Royal extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-7. They came up short against the Oak Park Eagles, falling 41-20. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 42-14 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Royal saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Ramos picked up 89 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 44 yards. Andrew Esquivel helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.

As for Oak Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games.

Oak Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lan Morrison, who picked up 52 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown. Grayson Auzat was another key passer, throwing for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt.

As of now, neither Royal nor Oak Park have any future games scheduled.
