Baseball Recap: Wesclin Takes a Loss

Wesclin lost against Columbia back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Warriors lost 14-4 to the Eagles.

Lucas Harriss put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Harriss was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Owen Szpila made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those doubles were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennett Spalding, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wesclin's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

While Wesclin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
