Softball Game Preview: Century Centurions vs. Egyptian Pharaohs

Century is a perfect 10-0 against Egyptian since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Centurions will host the Pharaohs at 4:30 p.m. Century is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Century had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Cobden on Tuesday. The Centurions put the hurt on the Appleknockers with a sharp 17-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Appleknockers: they've now won four in a row.

Jaylee Vanmeter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Sauerbrunn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Hayden Anderson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Century kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobden only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Egyptian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Cobden, falling 15-0.

The victory got Century back to even at 5-5. As for Egyptian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Century took their win against Egyptian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-2 score. Will the Centurions repeat their success, or do the Pharaohs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
