The Buffalo Bison are taking a road trip to take on the Scott Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Buffalo came up short against Wayne on Tuesday, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bison have suffered against the Pioneers since May 5, 2016.
Buffalo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Rutan, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Rutan hit this season.
Meanwhile, Scott faced George Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Skyhawks walked away with a 9-4 win over the Patriots.
Hunter Woodrum made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Blayne Kuhn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Neal, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Scott is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Buffalo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buffalo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scott struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Buffalo came up short against Scott when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 9-4. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
