Basketball Game Preview: Falls Church Jaguars vs. Edison Eagles

Falls Church is 1-9 against Edison since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Falls Church Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Edison Eagles at 7:30 p.m.

Falls Church is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. The matchup between them and Hayfield didn't end well, with Falls Church falling 55-38. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Hawks are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Edison came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Majors as they made off with a 60-34 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Edison's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Falls Church, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-11.

Falls Church was dealt a bruising 57-20 loss at the hands of Edison in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can Falls Church avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
