Basketball Recap: Benjamin's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Benjamin lost against Cardinal Newman back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buccaneers fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buccaneers have suffered against the Crusaders since December 13, 2019.

Benjamin's loss came despite strong showings from Logan Buchanan and Jayden Cosby-Mosley. Buchanan dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards, while Cosby-Mosley dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Cosby-Mosley now owns an excellent 52.4% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Griffon Alterman, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Benjamin's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Cardinal Newman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Benjamin will host King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will venture away from home to square off against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders will be up against the Gators' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
