Volleyball Recap: Mercy McAuley Wolves vs. St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs
Mercy McAuley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 2nd.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21, 25-16.
Emma Adkins paced Mercy McAuley's offense, picking up ten kills. Adkins got some help from Ava Thelen and her 31 assists. Thelen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
St. Ursula Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Belle Haas, who had 11 digs and one assist. Haas is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Cho, who had ten digs and two aces.
Mercy McAuley's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for St. Ursula Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6.
Looking ahead, Mercy McAuley will head out to challenge Badin at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for St. Ursula Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
