Basketball Recap: Shannon's Undefeated Season over After Three Games + How To Watch

After flying high against West Union on Saturday, Shannon came back down to earth. The Red Raiders fell 45-37 to the South Pontotoc Cougars on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 54-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Defeat or not, Shannon got some senior leadership from Cambry Shannon and Zion McGaughy. Shannon dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, while McGaughy posted six points. Shannon is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shannon fell to 2-1. As for South Pontotoc, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Shannon will square off against West Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Pontotoc, they will challenge Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
