Basketball Recap: American Fork Gets the Win

The American Fork Cavemen beat Mt. Zion Baptist 77-67 on Tuesday.

Bryce Mella had an outrageously good game as he went 12-for-22 on his way to 33 points and five rebounds. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Ashton Hucks was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

American Fork was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

The victory got American Fork back to even at 1-1. As for Mt. Zion Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, American Fork won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Timpview at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Zion Baptist, after both having extra time off, they and Gillion Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on February 4, 2026.
