Football Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. Fort Cherry Rangers + How To Watch

The Laurel Spartans will challenge the Fort Cherry Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Laurel comes in on eight and Fort Cherry on 12.

Laurel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 win over Chartiers-Houston. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 263rd).

Meanwhile, Fort Cherry really took it to Neshannock for the full four quarters, racking up a 36-9 victory. Fans of the Rangers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Fort Cherry's win came from a few key players Laurel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eli Salvini, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Those 193 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Matt Sieg was another key player, rushing for 124 yards and a pair of scores.

Fort Cherry's run defense was locked in: Neshannock could only muster three yards per carry. The Rangers hasn't allowed more than 6.1 yards per carry in three consecutive games.

Laurel's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Fort Cherry, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
