Softball Game Preview: Monmouth Academy Mustangs vs. Carrabec Cobras

The Monmouth Academy Mustangs will challenge the Carrabec Cobras on Thursday. Monmouth Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Monmouth Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Dirigo, who was ranked sixth at the time (Monmouth Academy was ranked eighth). The Mustangs walked away with an 8-3 win over the Cougars on Wednesday.

Carrabec let Upper Kennebec Valley stack six runs on them in the fifth inning on Monday but luckily Carrabec prevailed anyway. The Cobras came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 12-9.

The team relied heavily on Amiya Tibbetts, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ellie Dahms, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Carrabec kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Carrabec's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Monmouth Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

Monmouth Academy got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2023 against Carrabec by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cobras turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
