Preview: Harbor Pirates vs. Mt. Pleasant Cardinals
The Harbor Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Harbor has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Mt. Pleasant will arrive with four straight victories.
Harbor suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Aptos at home and fell 51-24. Harbor was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-8.
Despite the loss, Harbor saw an underclassman step up: Lily Defelice scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Defelice has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past San Jose 64-23 at home. Mt. Pleasant has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.
Snowe DeLeon was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mt. Pleasant's points. Another player making a difference was Destinee Townes, who scored 14 points.
Harbor has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
