Football Game Preview: Monticello Panthers vs. Highland Huskies

Monticello hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Monticello has given up an average of 39.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monticello is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Chester-Seward on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers came up short against the Hambletonians, falling 47-22. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Hambletonians are ranked 242nd).

Seth Jackson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 81 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, Highland didn't have quite enough to beat New Paltz on Friday and fell 8-6.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Monticello took a serious blow against Highland when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 54-14. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
