Loudoun County and Riverside are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. Loudoun County will welcome Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Loudoun County barely beat Freedom the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Loudoun County was the clear victor by a 13-4 margin over Freedom on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Keira Bertoglio was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Bertoglio was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Miller was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Olivia Eastlake was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Loudoun County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Riverside sidestepped Riverbend for a 4-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ram.
The team relied heavily on Gabby Cinnamon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashley Bui, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Loudoun County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
