Basketball Recap: Bishop O'connell Takes Down Ranked Booker T. Washington

Bishop O'Connell is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Booker T. Washington. The Bishop O'Connell Knights secured a 90-85 W over the Booker T. Washington Hornets. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Bishop O'Connell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shane Lincoln led the charge by going 11 of 16 en route to 27 points along with eight assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Lincoln a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Koelsch, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Lincoln wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Bishop O'Connell was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Booker T. Washington still got an impressive performance from Joc Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Mitchell has become a key player for Booker T. Washington: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-5 otherwise. Barron Harris Jr. also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Bishop O'Connell is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Booker T. Washington, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-6 record.

Bishop O'Connell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-46 win against Quincy on the 25th. Booker T. Washington has also already played their next match, a 74-57 loss against Vashon on the 25th.
