The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will head out to face off against the Chatham Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedar Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
While Cedar Ridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 61-57 win over Northern Durham on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Red Wolves.
Cedar Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braeden Wilbourn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Jacobson, who posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, Chatham Central waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hawks 53-51.
Cedar Ridge better keep an eye on Reid Albright. He was instrumental in Chatham Central's win, going 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Albright is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Brennen Oldham was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.
Cedar Ridge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Chatham Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cedar Ridge has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Chatham Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cedar Ridge won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Chatham Central 53-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cedar Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
