Volleyball Recap: Canon City Comes Up Short

Canon City managed to slip by Colorado Springs Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers came up short against the Lions on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canon City was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Colorado Springs Christian work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-22, 25-18.

Logan Miller paced Canon City's offense, picking up eight kills. Miller got some help from Derrick Donnell and his nine assists. Finally, Ben Slabaugh kept Canon City's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Drew Hacker had a dynamite game For Colorado Springs Christian., getting 26 digs and six assists. Those 26 digs gave Hacker a new career-high.

Canon City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Colorado Springs Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Canon City will be taking part in a tournament against Ponderosa at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they will be playing at home against Thomas MacLaren School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
