The Cascade Champions will square off against the Huntland Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cascade has three straight wins, Huntland has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Cascade beats Huntland with 14 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Cascade was the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Richland on Friday. Fans of the Champions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Jayden Hathcock made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cascade let Jaxson Milliken and Xykaiah Dixon run wild. Milliken went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Dixon scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two hits gave Milliken a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Demartelaere, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Huntland didn't have quite enough to beat Cornersville on Friday and fell 3-2.
Like Cascade, Huntland also got a great game from a two-way player: Chandler Banks. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Banks was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Banks wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Jernigan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Huntland's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Everything went Cascade's way against Huntland in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Cascade made off with a 13-3 win. Will Cascade repeat their success, or does Huntland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
