Football Recap: Lake Havasu Takes Down Sierra Linda in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Havasu had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Sierra Linda Bulldogs to the tune of 35-0. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 27 points or more this season.

A big part of Lake Havasu's victory came down to the chemistry between Carter Devett and his top target Halo Jump. Devett picked up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Jump threw for 281 yards and four TDs. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Devett a new career-high. Lake Havasu also got a significant boost from Tristin Andrade, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lake Havasu's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Owen Merrill and Vincent Fiantaca, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Another thorn in Sierra Linda's side was Merrill, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (5.0 for loss).

The win (which was Lake Havasu's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.5 points over those games. As for Sierra Linda, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.

Coming up, Lake Havasu will head out on the road to face off against Mica Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Knights 15, the Thunderbolts 7) so any points scored will be well earned. Sierra Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
