Volleyball Recap: Yuma Criminals vs. Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks
After flying high against San Pasqual Valley last Thursday, Yuma came back down to earth. The Criminals lost 3-0 to the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 25-17.
Desert Sunrise's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Liran Mcanelly, who had 23 digs and three aces. Mcanelly has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Pati, who had four digs and two aces.
Yuma's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for Desert Sunrise, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
