Basketball Recap: California Crosspoint Starts Season with Win at Home

California Crosspoint took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They snuck past the Cristo Rey De La Salle Mustangs with a 48-44 victory. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

California Crosspoint's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendan Lee, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Kim, who went 8-for-20 en route to 18 points.

California Crosspoint was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cristo Rey De La Salle only posted three.

When it comes to explaining why Cristo Rey De La Salle lost, don't look at Santonio Mora. Despite the final result, he posted 24 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Christian Plate- Yen, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

Cristo Rey De La Salle's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

California Crosspoint will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Hills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 1. As for Cristo Rey De La Salle, they have already played their next game, a 61-40 loss against Athenian on the 21st.
