Baseball Game Recap: Union Red Hawks vs. Greenville Yellow Jackets

Union had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it 11. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Greenville Yellow Jackets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Monday.

As for Greenville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

For Greenville's part, Cash Lilley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Greenville's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landyn Bannister, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Union will take on East Kentwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenville, they will challenge West Michigan Aviation Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
